What is the process for transferring my lease to another party?
The current lessee should provide a written request to transfer the lease agreement giving the full name and mailing address of the new owner. Assignment of Lease forms will be provided by Santee Cooper and are to be filled out in duplicate original. Once the signed forms are received along with the assignment fee (this fee is based on the date of original lease) an inspection of the property will be conducted and if there are no problems with the inspection, assignment will be approved by Santee Cooper and a fully executed original will be returned to lessee or the designated attorney for recording. Please contact the Property Management Office for additional information or questions.

YES. A Santee Cooper permit must be applied for and issued before beginning any construction. Permits can be attained at the Property Management Office. Permits should be posted and be visible from the lake and/or road.

May I cut trees on Santee Cooper leased property?
Trees may be removed from leased property; however, the Property Management Office must be notified and permission granted before beginning any clearing, tree removal, grading, etc. on Santee Coopers property.

Is hunting allowed on Santee Cooper lands?
Most of Santee Cooper's lands are open to hunting under certain conditions. Much of Santee Cooper's land is operated under the Wildlife Management Area (WMA) program in accordance with rules and regulations published annually in the South Carolina Department Of Natural Resource's (SCDNR) brochure. Maps of these lands are also available from the SCDNR. For lands not in the WMA program, specific questions should be directed to Santee Cooper's Forestry and Undeveloped Land Section at (843) 761-8000, extension 5327.
